Planning a long trip can be a very difficult task. Where do you begin? What’s step one? What should I bring? When should I go? It’s easy to get stunned in the beginning, especially when it is your first time. To help you get around things, we created this guide for you to plan your adventure well.
#1 Decide Where to Go
Identifying the places in Palawan you want to go sets a goal to work moving forward to your travel. Most people travel with the “I’ll just set out and see what happens” attitude. Don’t be one of those people – it doesn’t work.
Picking a destination is very important as it gives you a definite goal. Break down the places to a more specific destination as it’s a lot easier. Instead of “I am going to Palawan” break it down to a more specific journey like “I am going to El Nido” or much better “I am going to Big Lagoon”. This will make your planning easy.
#2 Choose the Time of Year to Travel
The best time to visit The Province of Palawan is around December to March, which is the pleasant, dry season for much of the Philippines. Weather is just right—not too hot, not too cool.
If you are curious why we didn’t include April and May it is because of the following reasons:
- April and May are also part of the dry season but this is the warmest and scorching hot time of the year to travel to Palawan.
- High tourist “summer” season. April (or late March) is also when Holy Week is observed. A huge number of Filipinos go on vacation or head back to their provinces. Airports, sea ports, and bus terminals will be congested. Plan ahead if traveling during this time.
#3 Plan Your Activities
Scour the internet or make some phone calls and plan out the major activities you want to enjoy and how much they cost. Make last-minute adjustments to your budget so you can ensure you have enough money. This will also help you figure out if you need any reservations for your chosen tours or activities.
#4 Pack Light
Go casual, simple, and very light. Knowing how to pack your bags and luggage correctly while traveling is a very important skill that many travellers overlook. A well-packed bag is one of the best ways to make traveling quite a bit more comfortable.
#5 Enjoy Your Trip
Go on your next adventure and have fun in Palawan!
Travel planning can be a lot of fun, but it can be easy to overlook certain things that can make your trip more expensive than it needs to be. This simple list should help ensure a successful trip.
#1 Make Photocopies of your IDs and Credit Cards
Make a few copies of your IDs (passport, driver’s license, etc.). Leave one at home with someone one you trust. Leave another set of photocopies somewhere in your bag. Keep copies of your credit/debit/ATM cards hidden away in your bag somewhere. These copies will quicken the replacement time if you ever lose your documents.
#2 Get Medical Prescriptions
Don’t forget to stock up on any medicine that you require. It could be tough or expensive to get what you need while in Palawan.
#3 Break In Your Shoes
If you are sporting a brand new pair of shoes on your travel then you might as well test it for a walk because you’ll never know. New shoes + loads of routes to walk is a disaster waiting to happen.
